Threat Group: 3 young hackers (Paras Jha, Josiah White and Dalton Norman) were the original authors.

Noteworthy: The author of Mirai released the source code in an attempt to confuse the investigator. This led to countless Mirai clones which caused even more damaging DDoS attacks. Mira was responsible for the biggest DDoS attacks. Millions of home routers are compromised.
